Business Showcase set for Nov. 12
The Sun Valley-Ketchum Chamber & Visitors Bureau and the Hailey Chamber of Commerce are inviting people to attend the 17th annual Business Showcase in the Limelight Room of the Sun Valley Inn on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 4:30--7:30 p.m.
The free event has a tradeshow-type format that allows local businesses to display their products or services to the public. Everyone is invited to attend and meet local businesses, enjoy food and drink, and enter to win prizes.
Booth registration is open to all Sun Valley-Ketchum and Hailey chamber members. The fee is $100. Nonprofits can participate for $75. The deadline for registration is Nov. 9.

Ketchum wool wins honors
Ketchum-based First Lite, manufacturers of high-quality merino wool base-layer clothing and outerwear for hunters, won the 2009 "Best of the Best" Award in the Clothing/Base Layer category from outdoor magazine Field & Stream.
First Lite's Llano Crewneck was honored by the magazine's editors in the September issue for its "significance of innovation, the quality of design and the value it brings to hunters."
Ketchum resident Kenton Carruth founded First Lite in 2007 and was influenced by the trend toward natural, high-performance fabrics being used as base layers, especially for outdoor winter activities.
Roark honored by Trial Lawyers group
Hailey attorney Keith Roark was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers at the group's annual convention on Oct. 10 in Boston.
The college was founded in 1950. According to a news release from the Roark Law Firm, the college is composed of "the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada."
Roark has practiced law in Idaho for more than 32 years. In the past he has served as Blaine County prosecuting attorney and Hailey mayor. He is currently state chairman of the Idaho Democratic Party.
Jigsaw announces contest winner
The winner of "Entrepreneurs Just Do It," a business plan competition organized by the Jigsaw nonprofit business promotion group, is Lizzy's Fresh Coffee in Ketchum, Jigsaw announced. Lizzy's, an online retail and wholesale coffee bean business owned and managed by Liz Roquet, won $250.
Roquet roasts and packages her products in Ketchum for nationwide sales. The business is not a retail cafe, but is open for consumers interested in tasting freshly roasted coffee every Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m. For more information, go to www.lizzysfreshcoffee.com.
Interior designer recognized
"Mountain Living" magazine's list of Top Mountain Architects and Designers has recognized Sun Valley's Jennifer Hoey Smith as one of its distinguished designers.
The magazine's annual list was published in its September/October issue.
Full Moon opens for lunch
The Full Moon restaurant in Bellevue is back in business after being closed for a year and half.
The restaurant, at 118 S. Main St., will serve lunch only, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Full Moon also offers full-service catering.

Online fund handles donations
Hailey resident Larraine Kuntz has started the Compassion Fund, a Web site designed to help consolidate donations from friends and family following accidents, illnesses and other crises.
Kuntz said the fund will receive donations at U.S Bank and disburse funds for an established period of time.
"This is a way of simplifying the donation process from anywhere," Kuntz said.

Digital photography studio opens
The Calculated Image opened in Ketchum this summer to provide services for professional and amateur photographers, including exhibition-quality, large-format printing, classes and slide scanning.
The studio includes printers capable of creating photographs up to 44 inches high and more than 5 feet wide. Classes are offered regularly, accommodating up to six students, to teach equipment selection and use, digital management, color correction and quality printing.
The Calculated Image is at 520 Fourth St. East.
