Here are the local teams in the record 284-team finishing field of the 18th annual Sawtooth Relay staged June 13 on a 62-mile course from Stanley to Ketchum's Atkinson Park.
Sawtooth Relay is a non-profit corporation benefiting two charities including the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation (www.pkdcure.org) and the Idaho Donor Network (www.yesidaho.com). Organizers invite people to register to be organ donors at the yesidaho.com Web site.
Overall winner was Friends O'Clyde in 6.07:21 ahead of the Twin Falls Bruins 6:32:00 and Faster Than Humanly Possible in 6:33.54.
Coed Open category (122 finishing teams): 9th place--That's What She Said 8.31:16 (46th place overall); 22nd place—3 Queens/3 Weens 8:56.28 (72nd place overall); and 30th place—BAMF 9.12:19 (93rd);
33rd place—Good Odds with Kelly Newman of Boise and, from Hailey, Jesse German, Kandis Pedersen-Romero, Taryn Haag, Amber Kirtley and JoAnna Peters 9.16:52 (103rd place overall); 55th place—Slow Children at Play 9.36:40 (145th overall).
61st place—Smith S.Q.U.A.D. with Julie McGregor, Pat McConnell, Jenna Schweizer, Kelly McGarry, Angie Eagle and Greg Brown 9.47:08 (160th place overall).
Corporate category (20 finishing teams): 13th place—Idaho Bioscience 9.39:03 (149th place overall).
Masters Women (40-and-over) category (5 finishing teams): 4th place—Women Running Wild 10.38:52 with captain Anne Jeffery, 60, and EJ Harpham of Bellevue, BB Hill, 63, of Eagle, Dee Lamott, 69, of Boise, plus part-time Hailey resident Susan Giannettino and Linda Roose of Boise. Three of the six team members were in their 60s and the other three in their 50s. They were 22 minutes faster than last year, and placed fourth in Masters Women for a third straight year.
Women's Open category (71 finishing teams): 12th place—Hot for Teacher 9.05:16 (86th place overall). 24th place—Scotties from Scott USA with Karen Stevens, Valerie Lewis, Cyndy Garvin, Kristen Fullerton, Molly Holt and Laura Levy 9.40:48.
Solo (3 finishers): 1st place—Dane Rauschenberg, 33, a Penn State graduate who ran 52 marathons, one every weekend, throughout 2006 and raised $43,000 for charity. His time was 10.36:59; 2nd place—Charles Francisco, 60, of Mountain Home, 14.05:51; 3rd place—Antonio Salazar Jr. 17.42:46.
